WORIMI CONSERVATION LANDS / NATIONAL PARKS AND WILDLIFE SERVICES
A film documenting the handing back of the Stockton Bight to it’s traditional owners, the Worimi people.
Content includes various interviews with Worimi elders, politicians and community members around the negotiation process, Aboriginal connection to country and the benefits gained from the co management agreement including employment benefits for Worimi people.
Celebration on the Sand was theatrically screened in August 2008 to celebrate the release of the 30 minute DVD which has been distributed by the NPWS and Worimi people. The film was also selected for screening at the 2012 Newcastle Film Festival and a second run of DVD’s has been ordered due to the DVD’s popularity and success.
